Vignola (1507-1573) olasz építész, a katolikus reformkor legkiválóbb építőmestere, Michelangelo halála után a Szent Péter Bazilika építésze. Jelen munkájának első kiadása először 1563-ban jelent meg Rómában, majd az évszázadok során az építészettörténet legtöbbet kiadott könyvévé vált.
