Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-1891) orosz teozófus, az 1875-ben létesült Teozófus Társulat fő alapítója, a teozófiai irodalom meghatározó alakja. Kérdezz-felelek formájában írt összefoglalója bevezetést nyújt a szellemi beavatást, spiritualitást megalapozó, rejtett tudást feltáró gnosztikus mozgalom alapjaiba, hitrendszerébe, célkitűzéseibe. A dokumentum tisztázza a teozófia kapcsolatát a keleti és nyugati vallásokkal és misztikus mozgalmakkal (a teozófia nem vallás), és kifejti a teozófusok emberideálját is. A munka végén alapos teozófiai fogalommagyarázat, majd részletes index. A munka első kiadása 1889-ben jelent meg. Az első nyomtatott oldalon régi tulajdonosi bélyegzés.
