A mozgalmas életű Annie Besant (1847-1933) szabadkőműves, harcos ateista, nőjogi mozgalmár, fábiánus szocialista az 1890-es években ismerkedett meg a teozófiával, mélyen beépült az európai ezoterikus mozgalomba, elfoglalva később a Teozófiai Társaság elnöki pozícióját is, majd a brit uralom alatt élő Indiában teozófiai praxisa mellett politikai szerepet is vállalt. Teozófiai értekezése az alvó és az eszmélkedett tudat, az emlékezet, az érzelmek, az akarat misztikus értelmezését nyújtja, oldalszámozáson belül néhány ábrával illusztrálva. A munka első kiadása 1904-ben jelent meg, példányunk a második kiadásból való. A címoldalon régi tulajdonosi bélyegzés és dátumozás. Poss.: Gyöngyöshalászy Takách Béla. [Gyöngyöshalászy Takách Béla (1874-1947) festő, építész, iparművész. A budapesti József Műegyetemen szerzett diplomája után Alpár Ignác mellett dolgozott Franciaországban, majd tíz évet töltött az Egyesült Államokban, ahol Alfons Mucha tanítványa volt. Kiállításai voltak New York, Boston, Philadelphia és Charleston városaiban. Az 1910-es években tért haza, itthon Széchenyi Bertalan, Dohnányi Ernő, Kozma Jenő villáit tervezte.] Aranyozott, festett kiadói egészvászon kötésben. Jó példány.
